I came here on my birthday, last month, but I keep going back for every occasion. I know, I used to tout the greatness of Life Cafe in Bushwick, for Brunch. However, this place is my new favorite brunch spot for any special occasion.
It’s a little bit of a trek, which never deters me. Located on 52nd and 10th avenue, it’s a spacious homey beautiful place with white tables, elegant decoration and tons of light. I like that there is tons of space for large parties. And now that it is warmer, the outside patio has been open for small parties of 2 or 3.
My friend McCharen brought me here, promising me great bloody marys! And of course I came back for my birthday in the end of April…and again, for Mother’s Day last weekend! (I might go again this weekend…)
When you first walk in, there is a huge Taboon oven where everything is cooked. You can find your regular brunch fare, such as eggs benedict (over fresh crab meat, as seen here, being eaten by my mother) and french toast. Then there is the items with a Middle Eastern flair. I love getting the house focaccia piled with eggs, olives, merguez sausage (lamb), and tomatoes. I also love the Lamb Ba’joon, which is the focaccia topped with ground lamb and pine nuts! Delicious! That was McCharen’s favorite thing and it might very well be mine. Mmm!
The last couple of times I was there, I always got the bottomless mimosa special. The price isn’t particularly cheap, but fare. Usually with my bottomless mimosa the price is around $20-30 per head. The food is $20 and down.
