Ramen Setagaya Tsukemen

One of the first meals I had when I came back from my trip was Tacos from my neighborhood. You don’t know how much Sophea craved french fries and how much I craved tacos.

Although I wanted to go on a noodle detox, the next place I went was RAMEN SETAGAYA, because, who could resist? Earlier this week, after Edvinas’s concert, we went straight to Astor place to get some Setagaya Tsukemen, or dipping noodles. It’s different from other dipping noodles, because the dipping sauce is actually a concentrated HOT broth, instead of the traditional thick sauce. The noodles are also the flat chewy kind (flatter than udon), and not the ramen noodles. The noodles are amazing.

I got the Shio Tsukemen and Ryan got the Shoyu Tsukemen. They were both really salty, but delicious, although by the end, it was a little too salty. It’s a good value, since both are filled with barbecue pork.

And it’s really cute how they get the appetite going with Japanese programs on their TV dedicated to Ramen shops in Japan. Of course, a lot of them taut the wonders of Setagaya ramen, watching these shows about ramen definitely ALWAYS makes me want to eat it. Good call.
